A lot of dieters are getting ready for the busy summer travel season. Even though it’s still mostly winter in a lot of places, the signs of spring are right around the corner. What you ultimately have to do is make sure that you’re thinking completely of your goals. Does that mean that you have to be strict on your diet?
The truth that so many need to hear right here and right now is that you really don’t have to be as strict as you might think. The truth is that a cheat day is a good thing for the body on a lot of different levels…but there are some cautions that need to be followed here.
First and foremost, you want to make sure that you’re already consistent. If you’re only staying on your diet for one day out of the week, you have bigger issues than cheat days. On the other hand, if you’ve managed to stay in compliance week after week with no problems, adding in a free day could be a good thing.
We like rewards for hard work. When we work hard all the time and don’t get anything out of the experience, we tend to get a little cranky. Your body works the same way — if you don’t reward it with anything, you’re going to be in for a troublesome time of things. You want to feel good about your choices. If your diet is way too restrictive, you’re not going to be able to stick with it for the long term.
On the other hand, if you focus on balance, you’ll end up with the body that you’ve always wanted. This is not something that’s too difficult to understand. Working hard with smart goals is the way to go.
Your cheat day should still be something that you track. The numbers might scare you, but don’t worry — it will balance itself out. One day of off plan eating isn’t going to ruin your diet. It’s supposed to be about having a good time as well.
Yet if you stay the course over time, you’re bound to get what you’re really looking for — the body of your dreams. Far too often people think that they’ll never achieve it unless they’re strict 100%. It just doesn’t work that way in most cases. Be good to yourself and remember why you wanted to lose weight in the first place.
